So ummmm......

I am TIRED! The parents association at the girlie's school decided to do a basket auction as a fundraiser for a new playground. It was a wonderful, exciting, unexpected SUCCESS!! WHOOO HOOO. Now I used to have a gift basket business, (don't ask, that is a whole other post in which drinking and lots of cursing are needed) so I know what goes into doing these. But I must be out of practice. I gave "direction" on how the baskets should be put together. Mostly my jobs were to cellophane them and make the bows for them. Bob have mercy! I had to have Sophia bring some ribbon from Hobby Lobby because our Hell-Mart ribbon selection quite frankly sucks! Anywho, who knew it takes so long to make 16 bows? I thought I was never going to get done. And I used to do this? oiy I guess it all goes back to....IT WAS A SUCCESS! YEAY! And the girlie's looked sooooo cute in their dresses. I will get a group picture for proper posting!

In other news, I have purchased a couple of new bag patterns that I am dieing to make! DIEING! They are big. And beautiful. And I cannot wait! But my feet hurt so much from last night, that it maybe tomorrow before I start.

I also need to work on my Retro Flowers Quilt and Cathedral Window -A-Longs!

Hope you have a good day!

My new love.....

I have found a new love. Cathedral Windows. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!

Believe it or not, these fabrics do match. They came in the same fat quarter bundle, just wanted to clarify that. I really need to work on my fabric selection and prints. Live and learn I guess.

I need to start working on my retro flowers quilt a long. So much to do and so little time. :)

Sally and Lucy have a concert this week also. The teacher decided to do a Civil War Theme. I guess that means anything blue or grey will work. Guess what two colors they don't wear too much of? And if they have it, is it appropriate for a concert? NOPE! So I found a cute, easy, simple peasant dress that is really good for a beginner like me. I have never sewed clothes yet! Sally's is almost done. I found another tute where she put a ruffle down the front. Right now I can't remember where I found it, but when I post pictures I will dig it up! Lucy's is cut out and one sleeve is attached. I am trying to use my serger on it.....>:~{ We will see how it turns out!

Sorry it has been so long in between posts....Its a work in progress for me!
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter. Sophia and the Princess came to visit so we had lots of fun!

-A-Longs

Pretty sure I need my head examined! I am going to try both of these A-Longs. They start on the same day. And I have never done patterns close to either one of these! oiy

Cathedral Windows Sew-a-long

I think I need to start cutting some fabric. Or atleast getting it ready to be cut. Are you or aren't you supposed to wash and press your fabric first? Does it matter any more? Or does it matter on the quality of fabric you are using? hmmmmm

I went and had my Serger worked on the other day. I am excited to try and make some things for the girlies. I even purchased some knit fabric. I was soooo excited when I found this at a garage sale last year. I had never used one, but thought "How hard can it be?" I tend to bite off more than I should chew. I have had some learning lessons, with more to come! Mr. Carrie's Things had to look at the diagram to thread it and tell me how to do it! Glad he is handy. Now to just get moved back out to the garage and start sewing!

Hope all is well in your world!

On to.....

Why oh why do I do this to myself. I volunteered to make a "stadium" quilt for a basket to be auctioned for the girlies school. Of course, I hardly ever follow a pattern in its entirety, therefore I make things alot harder than they could really be. oiy I love the concept of a stadium or t-shirt quilt. I just don't think that ALL of that extra t-shirt material needs to be seen. So I cut my down and have been "framing" them with other material. Of course, me being me, and not really having a concrete plan, just started cutting and now I have different size blocks. oiy Now I get to play with sizes and filler blocks to figure out how to put this thing together. Why can't it just go together beautifully like it does in my head?!?! Wish me luck!

I Did IT!!

I found this tutorial for a Pillow Mattress and thought hmmmmm. Sally likes to sleep on the floor sometimes, even though she has a perfectly nice bed. So I thought I wonder if she would like something like this. SHE DOES! And her Momma is sooo happy. Even though its like making a HUGE pillow case, I think its just wonderful. And it was my first time with french seams, they aren't quite as bad as I thought they would be.

I'm going to see how much this one gets used before I make another one. This one cost about $35 in materials to make. And the tutorial was very nicely written and easy to understand! Again, LOVE THIS!! Hope you're working on something you love!

Weather

We had some crazy ass weather tonight. oiy I think we are going to have a crazy spring/summer since our winter was so mild. We had 3 tornadoes going on right around us! For the first time ever, I was really really really nervous! Better get the flash lights ready and the closet cleaned out!

Pictures and an update

Here are pictures of Sally's finished quilt. I am sooooooooo happy with how it turned out. It won't win any awards and there are a few problems, but if I wanted it perfect, I would have hired it done! She loves it! And she is very unhappy with Lucy right now, she (Lucy) farted on it. Apparently that is against the rules....lmao.

Nope, your eyes aren't out of focus, it really is that off center and I didn't catch that. So I need to find another place to lay these out to get them basted! It's still awesome!

Getting ready, kind of, to get Lucy's basted together. I think I need to add a border to hers because it is a square. How do I do that? I did the same thing to the Mr.'s. Grrrrrr And the Mr.'s is ready to be basted and quilted too!

I got a couple of new bag patterns that I can't wait to make! I think I am going to move the sewing back out to the garage. It is currently taking up the whole kitchen. I think we are all sick of that!

The weather is soooo gorgeous out that if I weren't dieing from shark week, I might be out there enjoying it. Awe well, just another day of being female! Hope you all have a great weekend.

Now Lucy is bitchin because her's isn't done yet, and why is Sally ALLWAAYYYYYS first, blah, blah, blah. I had to take a break from Mister's quilt cuz it was just driving me bat shit crazy! Think I will start back on that tomorrow!

FUCK!

Fuckity fuck fuck fuckerson!! I totally screwed up Mr. Carrie's Things quilt! ARGHHHHHH
Off to the LQS in the morning to see if they can help me fix it. I guess it will probably be bigger!!
shit.damn.fuck.piss. hell.

Ughhhh......

Sometimes "Bob" has the weirdest sense of humor. One of my besties was going to take Sally and Lucy tonight for a sleep over. And, seriously, 20 minutes before she is to get here, Sally projectile vomits. oiy. So my easy night is not so easy. And not that I had grand plans or anything, and it is nicer for Betsy for them to be around. She misses them so much when they are at school. Probably the nicest thought was that I didn't have to have the bedtime knock down drag out fight. Oh well, this is how it is meant to be. Hope the bug stops here!

Now if I could just get the living room floor cleaned so that i can lay these out and baste them, that would be great! I am also working on Mr. Carrie's Things. I absolutely love it! It has corn in it...alot of corn...he is a farmer...it matches, if I do say so myself! Maybe more pictures to come!

No where near the ocean or even large area's of water, what is up with the gale force winds we are having! Well, I am going to get some pictures today.....hopefully....the sun is out....so is the wind....hope I have more determination than the wind!

Lucy's Quilt

The top is done! It didn't turn out quite the way I thought it would. Its more square than rectangle but I still love it! I will post pictures soon.

What's been going on......

Not a whole lot! We went to Omaha to visit Sophia. It was a very laid back trip, for us! We did hardly any shopping......gasp! I did a little sewing while we were there. I used Blanche's (my mother) sewing machine. I have to tell ya, I am apparently a snob......about everything.....her sewing machine was ok, but definately not mine! Even The Man made snide-ass comments about it. Oiy.
I also got my small twister quilt, QUILTED and the binding done and its had its first washing! I LOVE IT! I so wish I would have made it bigger. Sally's quilt on the otherhand has the front and back done, I just need to get the living room floor clean long enough to sandwich it and baste it. I wish I could get it done during the day, but Betsy does.not.cooperate. She wants to help do everything! I did get Lucy's quilt cut out and some row's sewn, so I can cut it apart and resew it. I think its going to be really cool. Anyway, not a whole lot going on here. Hope you have a wonderful night.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow......

Apparently never comes for me! Here is a picture of Sally's quilt. I have the batting purchased and need to finish the back. Of course, I have to make it harder than it needs to be, but in my head it will be great!
(not a great picture, I took it on my phone, but I will get better ones when it is quilited!)

I have taken some classes the last few days. I took one on Saturday at my LQS. It was doing twisters. They are so awesome and so fun! I took Lucy to Hell-Mart on Sunday to pick out material for her quilt and have decided to do this pattern only bigger! I hope to make it look like the twisters are floating.....wish me luck!
Today I took a class on making t-shirt quilts. Not quite what I was expecting, but still good. (maybe for once I know more than they were teaching....)

Sally's Quilt

So I have been working on a zig-zag quilt for Sally. I found an awesome tutorial from crazymomquilts (http://beesquarefabrics.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-make-zig-zag-quilt-without.html) Sorry I don't know how to do links yet. Anyway, I have had some of this material since 2004 or 2005. Yeah I had high expectations even back then. Although, in my defense, I had a really shitty sewing machine. I will post some pictures tomorrow.

I Suck, I Suck, I COMPLETELY SUCK!!

I think the last post pretty much summed me up. I suck. Really six and a half months and no posts? I am irritated with myself. So I am going to do better. I will post whenever the urge strikes. Whether that is once a day or five times a day. I hate when people let their blogs go, and I am no better. I will do better.
